On this sustainability journey we now offer a wide range of solutions that include reusable and reusable products, the use of recycled materials, and now we are highlighting bioplastics.GEPACK made its first bioplastic product back in 2016. It was 100% made of PLA (polylactic acid).
But what are bioplastics and how are they used?
Bioplastics are made from bio-based polymers, this means the resin comes from biological renewable sources such as cellulose, corn, algae, sugar cane and other. These polymers can be used as standalone raw materials or combined with other resins and use additives to enhance certain properties. The result is a range of choices for ecofriendly packaging products, providing solutions for the different markets demands, ensuring the high level of functionality the clients expect.
What are biodegradable and compostable bioplastics?
Biodegradable materials can undergo processes of degradation, under industrial composting conditions (temperature, humidity,microorganisms) to become natural products and part of the environment. Industrial composability of the packaging products are defined by European standard EN 13432, which states at least 90% or more of the plastic material will have been degraded in 6 months.
GEPACK offers and continues to develop its own eco line that include reusable, recycled and recyclable, biodegradable and compostable solutions, a whole the new generation of packaging providing bio-based, recycled, and refillable bottles.
